If you haven’t started using PowerShell yet, it’s time to get going: Microsoft not only has retired stsadm for SharePoint 2010 administration tasks (and replaced it with PowerShell), but also builds on PowerShell in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server (with more to come).
SharePointChick (her name, not my idea) Mirjam van Olst has written up a few tricks you probably won’t find in training materials like that and that are very useful. Thanks for that Mirjam.
Highly recommended: Download and install PowerGUI which makes creating PowerShell scripts so much easier by providing intellisense and debugging capabilities. Check out the basic tutorial (and find more on their website).
